Seneca Diabetes Foundation accepting applications for 2009 scholarships
SDF Golf Classic 2008
The 4th Annual Seneca Diabetes Foundation Golf Classic is expanding to be a two day event this year. On Sunday, August 24, 2008 there will be a Cocktail Reception for all golfers at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel Events Center. On Monday, August 25 golfers will go to either the Niagara Falls Country Club or the Niagara Frontier Country Club for the golf tournament. Sponsorship opportunities are still available

SDF Golf Classic 2007
Dozens of golfers hit the links on a beautiful Monday in August for the Seneca Diabetes Foundation’s (SDF) 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament. This special event was held at the Brierwood Country Club and brought together local celebrities, businesses and organizations to raise funds and awareness for one of the top health issues facing American Indians today. SDF Children’s Hospital Endowment Fund
In early January 2007, SDF announced the establishment of a $1.5 million endowment fund with the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. The Seneca Diabetes Foundation Endowment Fund will provide for funding of critical research, recruitment of top-notch pediatric endocrinologists, mentoring and internship opportunities and direct patient care for Seneca Nation members. SDF Scholarship Recipients
The Seneca Diabetes Foundation, through the Seneca Gaming Corporation, announced the recipients of its endowed scholarship program, established in conjunction with BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and Michael Militello and Family. The scholarships, ranging from $5,000 annually to $10,000 over the course of two years, were awarded to Seneca students pursuing higher education in the health and human services fields. Good for the NeighborhoodSM – Independent Health Partnership
The Seneca Diabetes Foundation recently announced its partnership with the Independent Health Foundation in an exciting new endeavor called The “Good for the NeighborhoodSM ” initiative. It will focus on providing healthy living training and learning tools to assist people in managing their own health care more effectively and improving their overall health. The collaboration between the two organizations will specifically focus on the prevention, control and care of diabetes for the entire Seneca Nation.
The Good for the Neighborhood initiative will utilize a “one stop shopping” approach in order to provide recipients with an easy and convenient resource aimed at helping them achieve their healthier living goals.
